Never known of one at birth, but my niece, who was born with an enlarged heart, had one as a toddler. She has since had three open heart surgeries and two more strokes. The only permanent effects are a limp and a slight lisp. She is 19 has graduated high school and recently found out she is pregnant. She has to take special medicine for her condition since she is pregnant, but all things considered, she is doing well.

My daughter actually had a stroke while I was pregnant. She wasn't suppose to live past birth. She turned 4 in June. She is on a feeding tube, has a trache tube, can't walk or talk, but is a happy, beautiful, energetic little girl. Her circumstances are considered severe. Others can have alot less complications.

Miracles happen! First off, the baby survived.. congradulations! Second, just pray and love that baby and be a source of affection. Third, ecourage the parents...sometimes 'stories' can be more devastating than the reality of the matter.

honestly, it's probably not good. if she survives at all, there will probably be lasting neurological damage. the effects could range from learning disabilities to the baby pretty much not being neurologically "normal". i would talk to the hospital and see what they seem to think caused it. it's not normal for a baby to have a stroke after birth. it could be something that they caused.

I have never heard of such things happening but I will keep you and your family in my prayers. Little ones heal fast and seem to be able to handle alot so just pray for the baby and God will watch over His angel for you.
