I need some ideas what to get my 1 year old nephew. I can not afford to buy him a game system or anything like that. He likes video games, but does not have a system of his own. He use to like to write and draw, now he is being a typical 13 year old and hides in his room or is out with his friends. I don't want to be the aunt that gives clothes, and I refuse to give a gift card or money.

Here are some tips:

The Hyperscan Video Game system sucks, while the 80 dollar price may be appealign to the 400 of the Xbox360, the 250 of the Wii, and the 600 of the PS3, it is really, really sucky. Also, the 15 dollar walmart handhelds suck alot, unless they are Gameboy Advance SPs, or PSPs, or Nintendo DSs

Im 13, and Im still interested in constrution kits, like Legos and Knex. Try Lego Mindstorms. THey can be really pricey, but they are educational, and teach robotics. Im still in love with those things.

Although you won't do it, i'd say the safest thing to do would be giftcards or money. Just incase you get him something you think he would like, when 1 year later its still unopened under his bed.

However, im a nerd-type person, but here are soem things that may appeal to him based on personality:

Skateboard or Scooter (walmart ones kinda suck, but the razor scooter kicks butt)

Rocket sets

MP3 Player.

Kudos for being a good auntie

I think boys are harder than girls are to buy for. As an aunt myself, I just bought my nephew, who is 12 yrs old, a nice pair of binoculars. I gave him a savings bond for his birthday and said it was his first check for his first car. Of course, you could always ask his parents what they are giving him for Christmas and see if you could get something to go with his main gift ie; different video game if he's getting a system. I know you said you didn't want to give money, but I have also given $20 in one dollar bills. It sure looked like a lot and he really appreciated it.

when you cann figure out the age of this so called nephew perhaps try loooking at his birth certificate you got him runing around at 13 and then at one years old how old of a child is this and if its 1 years old, he really really must understand video games, and hmm at one or 13 dosenent have a stereo systemms okayy-- wonder why if hes i- 0r 13---- confusing but they sure grow up fast if they hop from one too 13--
