This animated Christmas story begins on Christmas Eve where an town waits to see if Santa Claus will visit after a teenage boy Mouse writes a scandalous letter to the editor about Santa. The story then flashes back to the beginning and explains all the plot points that I can't remember. To intice Santa Nick, the clock maker makes a giant town clock which on the stroke of Midnight will play a tune that goes something like -

Christmas is calling
Santa Santa
(something)
Santa Santa
Come along Kris Kringle Down the Milky Way
Christmas time is coming
Santa, we need you today

This is driving me BONKERS! If anyone knows the title of this movie, I will be forever grateful!

Twas the Night Before Christmas, the 1974 Rankin-Bass animated Christmas television special, has very little to do with the famous 1823 poem that opens with this line.

In this television special, Santa Claus is offended by an anonymous letter written to him claiming that he doesn't exist. In response, Santa returns the entire town's letters (the letter was signed "all of us") to him unopened. When the anonymous letter is reprinted in the newspaper, Father Mouse (voiced by George Gobel) — a mouse living in a grandfather clock in the workshop of clockmaker Joshua Trundle (voiced by Joel Grey) — immediately suspects that his brainy son Albert as its author. Albert (voiced by Tammy Grimes) confirms his suspicions, repeating the letter verbatim to him.

I've tried to find out the name.. My daughter and I saw it last year. The teenage mouse breaks the clock that is made and he needs to fix it to get Santa to come, right? I don't know the name either! (If we're thinking of the same one) but now I want to know too!!! Sorry I'm no help.
