I'm not sure which my fiance would like better for his birthday. Help. please? And what are some good games I could buy as well? (he's not into those violent games, like he only really likes the sports games, but what are some new ones that are good?)

The 360 has been on the market longer

You can buy a 360 in any game or electronics store for $399 for the premium system.

The Wii is only $250 but you may not find one before Xmas

A great many Non-violent (sports) games exist for both systems as well as many violent ones

The 360 has proven to be a reliable, available system with more games available.

It is your safe bet and he will love it!

You may however regret purchasing either system as you may have to compete with it for attention!

You can't go wrong with the 360 but if you can find a Wii for retail you won't disappoint him either.

Hope this helps.

Some people have made some pretty good points, but I'd like to add my perspective.

The 360 is a good system and initialy when I was reading your question, I was thinking that.

But then I got that he's into sports games. The Wii is a very different system in that movement of the controler is translated into action on the screen. I own a Wii and I find that the ammount of movement that's requires is often fairly over-stated. Small snaps and flicks of the wrist usualy suffice.

I think a lot of people with the impression that you *have* to be standing up and doing the equivilant of step arobics have only seen the Wii Sports package, which is fun, but more of a technology demonstration than anything.

I've not played Madden on it, but I've heard others who have say they really liked it. One ever said he could never go back to a regular controler. The last guy's statment is true. The controler can seem a little sloppy, but that's just because it takes a little time to get used to.

The Wii could potentialy revolutionize gaming, especialy sports games. If he liked boxing, for example, this is deffinetly the way to do it.

But there are a couple other important aspects that I think you should keep in mind. Like someone else said, the Wii is a more casual console, getting a 360 might mean he got hooked on some XBox Live game that you can't pry him away from for weeks. I don't know him, so I don't know if that applys, but that's a possibility from what I know.

Also, I don't know how old you are, but the Wii is also a great social machine. I have some friends that never liked Nintendo before. But when we got togeather, had a few drinks and passed around the controler for some Wii Sports, we all had an absolute blast. If you have informal parties or other social gatherings where something like that would be welcome, it's really a lot of fun for a group.

If he's into Sports, the Wii comes with a Sports game package which has simplistic versions of Baseball, Tennis, Boxing, Golf and Bowling. I'd also recomend Madden. It was just released, so there aren't a whole ton of games yet.

Something that I *highly* recomend is called Super Swing Golf Pangya and will be released in the comming weeks. It's based on an online computer game that I've played for a few months now. It's a lot of fun and very addictive.

If he is not into violent games such as Gears of War or Halo or Ghost Recon series and such..

Don't get him the 360, the 360 is for people that are mature (no offense), as in there are violent games and games are usually T or M.

Nintendo Wii is a family console, the most popular game for it is Wii Sports where you can interact with the game, like you can hit the tennis with the remote and throw your pitches/bowling...

The Wii is a family console and is mainly intended for all gamers not just kids since it doesn't really have violent games... Most of the games are like Zelda and Raymond.. Funny and interesting..

How ever Halo 3 is the make or break of the 360, Gears of War too.. But I don't think new gamers will be only persuaded by GoW instead of getting the Wii since the Wii is having so much positive feedback. So it's up to the majorly-hyped Halo 3 to bring back the 360 in glory...

But for technical details and media capability, that's a whole different story.. I'm just talking about gaming here...

Oh yeah edit... About the 360 being more reliable.. Haha what a joke.. This is Microsoft guys... The Xbox 360 over heats, breaks down due to system reasons, fall update is crashing systems, people sometimes pick up faulty equipment from stores and have it not working by the 2nd day, scratches disk if you stand it vertically, and remember, BUY THE EXTENDED WARRENTY OR ELSE!!! (360)

Since he's your fiance I'm guessing that he's over 14 yrs. old

and if he's into sports games get him the 360

with the 360 you play sports games just like everyone else but I've tried playing Madden for the Wii and it's so retarded
(You make so much mistakes moving the controller the wrong way)

in the long run the 360 is a way better system then the Wii

(Unless your fiance's a huge Mario fan then get him a Wii)

If he is a bit on the old side like over 30 go with the x box if he is pretty young like in the twenties (low) and he is pretty active I would get him the Wii. The wii involves you physically moving the controller to move the character and with sports games he will probably have to move the controller and make it act like he is the tenis player, soccer player etc. So if he woulnt mind doing all of that physical stuff then get the Wii but if he is more of a sit down and play then get him the x box. I dont know of any good games because I dont own any of these machines but I hear that most of the sports games are probably pretty fun. So It probably wont hurt if you have to buy some without knowing how they are.
Also if you want you could go on amazon.com and read reviews on some x box games that you want to get him and see if they liked them or not or if it sounds like something he would want to play. I hope this helps! bye!

Wii is cool but very tiring to play. If he's older get him a 360 with pro evo soccer 6 or something like that. You'll also be licky to get a Wii in the shops before xmas. good luck.

Most of the major systems will support all the new madden, NBA, and baseball games. I cant really say wich he would like better because it is his opinion. I think the best thing you could do is ask one of his friends to ask him wich he likes better (Make sure he or she doesnt tell him you are getting it for him as a gift.) and then his friend will tell you and you buy that system. You can really go wrong, both consoles are pretty awesome and fun, and im sure he would appreciate either.

Get him a 360, mostly because its great. Lots of older gents on Gears of War. And to add to that Wiis are nearly impossible to get.
