Not sure this is the answer that you are looking for but here goes. If you are buying a potted Christmas tree, that you plan to replant later it should be kept out doors until about the 23rd of Dec.Because bringing the tree indoors shocks the tree.only keep the tree in the house until after the new year. It is a good idea to dig the hole for the tree now as the ground is not completely frozen yet. When you plant it put a about 3 buckets of water on it ,as evergreens need water through out the winter if you get snow where you are at this will take care of it the rest of the winter. And yes be sure to water in when you get it indoors too....................Hope this helped...........Good Luck

I'm not sure if you mean you're going to put lights directly on the tress, but if it's just surround it, it should last about 3-4 weeks. After that, it wouldnt look and smell as nice anymore. Anyway, I agree with the fake tree suggestion. It's price-efficient, safe and less trouble. But it's up to you. Whatever your decision is, Merry Christmas!! =D

It is so much safer to buy an artificial christmas tree than a real tree. If your looking for that pine scent, they sell it in a bottle.
Real trees catch on fire so easily and there is so much work and care for real trees.
Do yourself and your family a favor have a safe and happy holiday.

If you don't care about look and smell, you can keep it until it disintegrates into nothing, which is quite a long time. Most people choose not to do this though.

If you water it daily, is should last until New Years.
Throw it away if it turns brown before it catches on fire.
