Although the idea is preposterous, I definitely believe something along the lines of a National identity card, that is linked to a fingerprint or retina scan could be very helpful in preventing fraud, however not necessarily crime or violence.
I personally believe education, and love will solve the problem. I don't believe we need to dump money into organizations and hope it solves our problems. I think we as a community need to step away from our computers, our tvs, our homes, so that we can work, play, and just exist in the same world together. The elitism needs to stop, we can't be this exclusive with whom we talk to and consider friends. Because the enemies we make will hurt us.
Because it would be very hard to steal from someone you see everyday. Maybe we distance ourselves from each other because we know we're not doing our duty to help other people.
We need to trust our neighbors, and we as well need to be trustworthy, and we need to let people know that we trust them, and we need to give them responsibility. Everyone is responsible for everyone else. Do something about it.
For starters, go have a nice chat with your neighbor today, and you'll see what I mean.

That would be an excellent idea, and it is common sense that we are steering toward it. All personal info and funds would be part of the person and could therefore not be taken away by third parties. Total surveillance would also be a good idea in all public areas. I would take great comfort in the thought that everything everybody does goes on record and can be traced. I've been mistreated so many times that I'd really like the implications this would have, as people would take so much more care.
Unfortunately, this would only stop crime, not terrorism. But it would make it more difficult for terrorists to operate.

To stop crime completely is a very noble principle to think about. Although nobility cannot stop crime. Most crimes are fueled by inertia from a few different motives...1. Drugs/Acquiring funds to purchase more..2. Greed/wanting more money/possessions..3. Hatred...Being angry at another person for wrongdoing. In the event that we can eliminate the epedemic that these factors have become..we may put a dent in crime. Imagine a world where you could walk through an inner city and never have to worry about seeing poverty due to drug addiction...Quite the question you have asked. God Bless

Everyone (except for convicted criminals) legally carry guns and know how to use them. It's worked surprisingly well in states or towns that have tried it. People will think twice about robbing a bank when there's a great possibility that everyone else in there will be armed.
We're getting close to that computer chip implant anyway. Unfortunately, people would probably try to cut the computer chip out of someone's body. Some whack jobs have already cut the fetus out of pregnant women, so some people wouldn't think twice about digging out your computer chip. Unless you were armed. Ha ha!

I like the plot of the movie "Minority Report," in which psychics foretell the crimes people will commit before they happen. This would prevent a lot of murders. However, as a police dispatcher, this would also kind of leave me out of a job.

Hire the same mercenaries that we do for Iraq. The Blackwater crew...and just wipe them out. No long drawn out legal affair or years of costly imprisonment to suppport or deal with.

Use your fists, fight fire with fire. Crime and violence won't ever go away so you just have to get over it.
