I donate. I do donate to good causes, like the Red Cross also.

I hold my head high. I walk past and say hello.
They expect me to give and I never put coins in the bucket.
I routinely donate our well cared for, used belongings to SA
I drop off 4 or 5 loads a year.
The bucket tender/bell ringer does not know this. How could they? But, why feel like you "HAVE" to give?
Give if you can, Don't if you can't. But please do not feel as though you must. That is not what the SA is all about.
Honestly, they are only trying to help. I have met many of them. They are talented and educated, but they work for peanuts. They also are not rocked by scandal.
Does anyone remember the few million that disappeared from the Cleveland United Way? I do and I won't forget.

None of the above. Have had really bad experiences with donations to the Salvation Army in the past. I walk past them at my normal waddle, and if they say anything to me, they'll get to hear about the bad experience (their cashier was supporting her 5 br 3 bath 2 living area house in a good neighborhood by yardsaling the best donations and they wouldn't make her stop). Always excepting the kindly-intentioned "merry Christmas" which I'll answer in kind.

I try to donate change when I have any extra on me but when I don't I look down at the ground and walk really fast past them

I go into the store first so I can get some change, then when we leave, I give some money to all of my kids so they can each put some in the bucket. They love it!
