I just wondered if it served any particular purpose. It seems unlikely it would be there just for the sake of it.

The foreskin is located at the tip of the penis and serves to protect it. It also serves to stimulate sexual activity.

The foreskin is a small piece of skin that covers the tip of the penis. It is often removed at a male child's birth through a process called a circumcision. It does, however, serve three main purposes.

The foreskin serves to protect the tip of the penis as well as the opening through which semen and urine are excreted. This also can help to keep bacteria from affecting this area, which can reduce the chances of infection or irritation.

The foreskin also helps to protect the glands from injury and keeps them moist and soft. Without it, the glands can become callused and dry and desensitized from exposure and chafing. This also helps to guard against further irritation to the penis and genital area.

The third purpose of the foreskin is the enhanced sexual pleasure caused by the special nerve endings it contains. This enhancement takes place during sexual intercourse. This combined with the nerve endings in the penis can affect the overall sexual experience.

In the time when men ran naked in the forest or on the blazing desert, the foreskin had a protective use. Now days with good clothing it doesn't matter. Circumcision works better for simplified hygiene, for greater beauty, and for a good sexual life. The sensitivity of the glans remains the same except for greater staying power that benefits the woman as she begins to approach orgasm. Foreskin or not is not really the issue in making love. That is a whole body experience, in foreplay and through the phases of passionate love. Holding, touching, kissing, and then thrusting, etc. are the most important parts. Not foreskin but foreplay to start and enhanced penile and vaginal feelings ending in massaging and staying close. It is wonderful.

The foreskin protects the glans (head of the penis) from the external environment, keeping it soft and sensitive. Even underwear can desensitize the glans over long periods of time. Also, the foreskin has lots of nerves in it and in a "properly functioning" foreskin greatly contributes to the enjoyment of sex (for both partners).

Really, if one takes good care of it, like safe sex and proper hygiene, the foreskin is a nice asset to have.

The foreskin keeps the glans (head) soft, moist and protected. Without it, the irritation from constantly being exposed to rubbing on clothes causes a layer of keratin to form, which cuts down on sensitivity for the man and makes sex less comfortable for the woman. Some men get so desensitized that they cannot ejaculate from intercourse and have to finish "by hand," leaving their woman feeling useless and frustrated.

The foreskin is also a pleasure machine in its own right. It is very rich in nerve endings and provides unparalleled pleasure to its owner.

It also protects from injury of various kinds that could damage the glans. It's not "extra" skin as some people say - it's a very valuable body part.

It was originally there to protect the head of the penis from damage as primitive man ran through the bushes in pursuit of prey animals etc. Nowadays, it serves no useful purpose at all. It harbours bacteria, smegma and fungal infections and it greatly reduces the sexual pleasure of both the man and his female partner. It is FAR BETTER to have the foreskin radically removed by circumcision and this is usual in the USA and among Jews, Moslems and educated, sexually aware people in many countries.

The purpose of the foreskin is to protect the head of ones penis. an uncircumcised male will have much more sensitivity at the head then a circumcised male. this is because the head is covered by skin and thus reduces its exposure to the outside world.
uncircumcised males usually experience more pleasure during masterbation because of the heigtened sensitivity and the foreskin also serves to add pleasure to the experience.

The foreskin has three known functions: protective, sensory, and sexual.

During infancy, the foreskin is attached to the glans and protects it from urine, feces, and abrasions from diapers. Throughout life, the foreskin keeps the glans soft and moist and protects it from trauma and injury. Without this protection, the glans becomes dry, calloused, and desensitized from exposure and chafing.

Specialized nerve endings in the foreskin enhance sexual pleasure.

To protect the glans, basically. However, the foreskin isn't necessary, as Abraham's convenient with God consisted of removing this piece of skin to show is faith and belief in God. In exchange, God blessed Abraham with countless sons and daughters.

So basically, it's purpose isn't really needed.
