density is how much mass an object has within its given volume for example a black hole is incomprehensibly dense because it has tons (millions of tons) of mass within a tiny space,

Density = mass/volume
this gives you the idea of weight of substance per unit volume.

it really does not speak about hardness as mercury is soft though its has high density and low density plastic could be hard

Density is how thick something is. Density comes from the the word. Dense

Hi. Mercury is dense but not very hard, so no. Density is how much mass an object has for a particular volume.

Density is the ratio of mass per unit volume as in grams per cubic centimeter, pounds per gallon, etc. It has nothing to do with hardness. Gold, for example, is very dense but quite soft compared to a diamond, which is not very dense but is the hardest substance known. Mercury is quite dense but is a liquid at room temperature.

I think density is something that is hard to see

d=m/v, density = mass divided by volume. density is the amount of matter in a given space.

density is how tightly something is packed together.ex. a sponge has a low density while a rock has a high density.

No. Density is like.. um. How much mass something has per square inch, or CM.

kinda if. if a substance is dense it could be harder yet it can still be brittle depending on the composition. a rock is as hard as a brick right? A rock is also more dense right? well try to break each one with a hammer the brick will probably break 1st. this is the simple explanation.
