soft. Is that the same as thinning?? Does that mean it's not too far away? I'm due Jan 2nd, but would like it to happen before the 1st. He also said he could tell he was head down from the internal exam, does that mean the baby's dropped? I am feeling a little pain and pressure down there especially when I walk or put on pants. But, I thought the baby dropping was supposed to be pretty noticeable? Could it happen without actually feeling it happen? Thanks!!

It sounds like the baby has dropped or he could just be a really big baby My baby's head is down but I feel her kick right at the top of my stomach you should question your docotor the next time you go in and you do feel pressure when the baby drops and i would consider you to wear pants that are not tight go around in pajamas if you can if not wear really stretchy ones. And if you are having menstraul like craps but a little more intense then those are contractions and your body is getting ready to go into labor. Hopefully this helped you out a little it is just advice everyone gave me

Your cervix softening means your cervix is preparting to efface (thin) and dialate... Some effacing and dialation may have already occured as your cervix will remain soft through out the process... The babys head could mean two things, it could mean the baby is moving down and it could mean the babys head is pointing down....

In the initial stages of the baby dropping it can be inperceptible... even toward the end it can be subtle and not very noticable..

While walking can help to speed up labor and even start it, the baby will ultimately arrive on it's own schedule no matter what you do to speed up the process... Sit tight your baby will arrive hopefuly healthy whether or not you get to take it as a deduction on your 2006 taxes or on 2007

That is all just things that will happen. It doesnt really mean much. My 3rd sons head was down from month 4 and stayed that way. I was also 4 cm dilated with him for several weeks before i went into labor. It will be painful towards the end because of the baby dropping, but that is the only noticeable thing. That can last a while too.

Yes, your cervix being soft and thinning out are the same and that is a good sign.

I could not feel my baby drop, but after a while, quite a few people told me how far he had dropped. Amazing how other people can notice more than you can at times.

Be on the lookout for a discharging mucous plug...you'll know it when it happens. Its kind of gross, but, in the same time, cool, because the baby is usually not far to follow.

All of these are signs that the baby is soon to arrive, but they cannot predict the baby's decision. I delivered one day before I was due, but both of my friends delivered at 37 weeks. Don't stress it, get prepared and enjoy the last week(s) of your pregnancy!

Sorry but that means yes you are getting closer but that is not a huge deal.... My cervix was soft in my 28 week and I had my daughter at 35 weeks. The baby might have dropped but no one can tell you if you are going to have him early or not. I think when the doc has said that you are starting to dilate then that is a bigger sign( although I was dilated from 29 weeks on.. up to a 4 before I went into labor) But most people go into labor very soon!

If you feel extra pressure down there, then the baby has probably dropped. Some woman you can notice it, and some you can't. As for time of delivery, you could go early or you could still go overdue. Thinning and even being dialated doesn't necessarily mean delivery. A friend of mine was 2cm dialated for a month before having the baby. Good Luck and congrats.
