Thirteen is cutest. Haahhhhaa, well you should be festive.
I just couldn't help it, I was 13 and had a dance that was so
serious to my life. I got a real life clown to take me to dinner.
I wore a jumpsuit type body shirt and vest with a matching
medium skirt. The shoes were important and I wore some
lite almost flats kind of puppy velvets. They actually helped
to get me a little extra room, came in handy I was new dancer.
I would just say teens is the time to meet lots of people and
make new friends. Have a nice party!!

Most importantly, don't wear shoes that are going to kill your feet after an hour lol.
Also, even though it's cold outside, by the end of the night you're probably going to be sweating too lol so I would wear a cool top and then something over it that you can take off later on.
If it's not going to be formal and it's going to be casual, then you could put together a really cute outfit, something not too complicated and something that's still "you." I don't know if you are a dress/skirt or jeans/pants kind of person but whichever you choose, why not keep it simple but add one or two festive things to your outfit? Maybe you have a pretty colored cardigan and shirt, or a special pair of earrings, necklace, etc.

My daughter is 13, and also takes this matter very seriously. She had a dance at school 2 weeks ago and went through this same dilemma. I took her shopping as one of her Christmas presents, and for the dance, she chose a casual pair of skinny jeans by Abercrombie and a Lacey/Velvety camisole, and she wore her gold metallic ballet flats. She told me it was a success! The one answer above me was right, girls look ridiculous when they put on their long floral gowns and wear their hair down. I highly advise putting it up into a flirty, straight, bouncy ponytail just so you can dance without it getting in your way, plus it would make your neck hot and make you sweat, make you smell bad then boys wouldn't want to dance with you! Good luck!

alot of girls dress up for schoo dances and trust me they look stupid. they are going to be playing alot of hip-hop and you want something that moves, try flAIRed jeans or a sashy flaired out skirt, math w a baby tee and leave you hair down and curl it or straighten it(you know what looks best on you)and dont wear heels for 2 reasons1.if you wear heels your feet will hurt and 2.you will find you cant dance w the boys you want because they have suddenly become 2 in shorter than you, wear shoes that are cute but move.

I would definately go with something red for the holidays. A simple red dress with a small gold clutch purse would look great.

well, i would prob. wear a nice skirt and pretty blouse. If it is cold by you(i know it is here) maybe leggings with a skirt or dress pants. Wear somthing you are comfortable in and somthing that you can move in.
