I just went back to work after having a baby myself! I think that it really depends on what type of job you want. Like something office-based you probably don't want to tell them you have a young child. A lot of times (unfortuinately) comparies see that as a liability and assume that you will be out with a sick baby a lot. But it just depends! like some companies are very understanding and don't care if you have a tiny baby as long as you can assure them it's in a good daycare and there are other people available to take care of him/her if they are sick so you won't be absent from work.

I would include the time management skills that you have learned by being a stay-at-home mom and, I am assuming, housekeeper. Too many women do not look at the skills that they acquire running a household as bein worthless.

Take a look at the classes being offered by the various tax companies. H&R Block has a training program that will give you a skill and a mobile job that is going to be needed as long as we're alive.

Good Luck!

Hell yeah. I wouldn't shoot for the stars, but you can probably easily score an entry level job and work your way up from there. Try temping. You are young enough to temp around a little bit until you find the company that's right for you. Some of the work might stink, but that's the benefit of temping, its temporary.

Once you find a company you enjoy, bust your ass and get them to bring you on full time. I think your age probably hurts you more than caring for child for two years, but you can use that responsibility as a sign of maturity. Caring for a child isn't easy and it takes a lot of responsibility. Good Luck.

Women returning to the work force after caring for a new born for several years is not as frowned upon as a guy being out of work for that long.

Leverage your child caring as a selling point on being a responsible person. A good mom must, by definition, a responsible person.

You'll land a job, not to worry.

That is so good that you were able to be home with your baby! I stayed home for 18-1/2 years to take care of our children and to homeschool them. Then, when they were teenagers, I went to get a job, and I was able to find one in an office rather quickly...and within a year and a half I was offered a management position! So, really, I believe that the "management of my home" gave me quite a bit of background...and that may have showed to my manager. But, I also know that God directed me, and I thank Him for that. (I am back home now, self-employed, and working in several ministries.) Be encouraged...your time at home was well spent.

Have you checked out craigslist or also if you like to write they have writing jobs listed there. You can also bid on jobs at elance. This is good if you want to work from home . I don't think anyone would have a problem that you wanted to take care of your baby rather than go to work.

if you have no education other than high school i would suggest you go look for a job in retail. right before the holidays is the best time. they usually need more people and tend to start you out at a little more because of the stress level you will have to deal with

This girl who is not even very nice (which you probably are) got an internship at my company 4.5 years ago when she was 21 and has been promoted every year since. Now she is a department supervisor. She is extremely organized and detailed, but she never went to college. If she can go that far you can go at least as far.

Of course you'll get a job. You're young. If you were 52 and used that excuse, you could be a greeter at Walmart. Since you're young, people will hire you.
