well..i dont think DDR is too much for younger kids...my friend has a sister that's 3 and she plays the easiest levels of DDR, for the mats, i wouldnt get the most expensive ones, they arent worth it ... at least for me, i bought one for 20$ and works fine, i never had a problem, but it was in this old video game store, the mat wasn't a popular brand that was in stores...the major stores like best buy and maybe target sell from around 35-50$ mats, i say they're not worth it...i would look for a video game store like gamestop...and not the major store

DDR is rated teen by the MPAA which is a little out of range of a 7 and 4 year old. However the only reason that the game is rated teen is because a few of the songs have some swear words thrown into the songs. There are no swear words in any of the chorus's of the song so it's fairly safe to say your children won't be picking up any foul language from this game. The swearing is very rare among the songs on all DDR games. Plus the lyrics are normally in the background of the songs on DDR since they want the beat to come through well.

My advice is go for it, because your kids are going to love the game, just be sure to get a second dance pad.

Also my advice on pads is to go for a metal pad, they're more sturdy and don't move around to much. However the metal pads are expensive ($250) while the soft pads cost much less ($50 for 2 pads) and if you can keep them still, they work just as well.

I don't think DDR is too much for little kids. They might get tired quickly though. But if you're concerned for the songs, most of them don't have bad lyrics... At least the ones I've played. I have DDRMAX and DDRMAX 2.

I use a RedOctane wired dance pad. I hate wireless. If you find the wire to be too short, you can get an extension I think...

Hmm, I find it that all the younger kids aren't too good at DDR. I say wait till they are 9 and give'em alot of practice.

go to electronics boutique at a mall and they have a dance game there that can create dance moves to any music CD. i think it is called dance factory. So if your daughters want to dance to barney they can or any other type of music that they want to. they also sell dance pads there too.
