i totally agree. He's a much better passer than Vince Young who has taken in the top 5 last year and a better passer than Vick was in college. He watches tons of film on opposing defenses and that work ethic will only help him at the next level. I'd love for Green Bay to take him in the top 10. His arm strength and running ability will help him alot in the cold Green Bay weather. Oh and by the way he did tear up Michigan. 42 points against the "supposedly" best defense in the nation is pretty impressive. He also wrapped up the heisman with that game, so you don't know what your talking about

What do you know about the draft?
Let's look at it this way, you are vastly overrating Troy Smith. Let's start off with his height, he's listed at 6'1 which is undersized but is going to measure up to 5'11. How many QBs in the NFL that start and go in the 1st round are 5'11?
Then you would throw out the argument that he has tall OL but guess what? He does not run a pro-style offense which makes his height much more crazy. You won't win in the NFL out of the Shotgun every year or through 4-5 WR sets.
Now let's go to his deep-ball strength. He has no deep-ball accuracy nor strength whatsoever. I've seen Ted Ginn slow down countless times in order to try and catch a lameduck by Smith. He won't throw for many yards in the NFL with that arm of his.
Now some of you are acting like Smith is this amazing athlete which he is not. Vick, Vince Young, Seneca Wallace, etc. all ran in the 4.3-4.4 range which is freakishly fast. Smith runs around a 4.7 which is not bad but hardly faster than Brady Quinn.
He did not tear up Texas, I don't know where that claim came from and Michigan was ran over rather than thrown over.
Smith may be a first-round pick but top 10? Here's a link, go the Forum and say that and see what happens.
If I seem mean, I apologize as I have answered this question countless times.

he will be taken in the first round, but because of all the speculation not high. He can throw the ball very well and people say he's too small. I can name a qb that was 5'6'', not a halloffamer but thats because he only played one year be4 going in the army. He invented the way qb's throw the ball now, with turning the wrist. His name is Davey O' Brian and they have a college award that smith happened to win. Smith's height don't matter. He will have a good career.

Troy Smith to me is a top 5 draft pick. Thats bs about his height. Mike Vick not even 6'0. Thaey just listed him that tall. They both are near 5'10, 5'11. Troy smith has great vision and a wonderful arm. However because smarts like us aren't the GM's I say either Baltimore, Kansas City, Chicago,Oakland(nooooo!), Detroit(nooo!), or Carolina(Delhomme is done)

I agree. the raiders might pick him up in the first round. but its because Al Davis really like those kinds of guys. i do not like Al Davis does not really look at talent, he looks for certain attributes and trys to draft those attributes, even if it is somthing the Raiders don't need. Al Davis seemed to be eyeing Vince Young, but he didnt get him because he was taken by the Titans. now he could be looking at Troy Smith. Al Davis does not really draft on the needs of the team, but drafts people who excites him.
just by talent however i say Troy Smith probably should go in the first round, but probably late in the first round, latest in the mid second.
he is short, and most short QBs dont last as long, there are a few exeptions like Drew Brees is only 6-0 tall. but most scouts look for at least 6'2''. shortest QB I can really think of is Seneca Wallace, who is 5'11'', but most people won't label him as a success. the ablility to look over your own lineman, and the DL and LBs running at you is a big issue. in the NFL linemen are alot taller than in college

First he did not tear up Michigan, they lost by ONLY three points and mind this-Allan Branch and LaMarr Woodley sacked him during the game and were all up in his face.
Honestly, what team needs a quaterback besides the Raiders (They might just take a Offensive Tackle). Lions should stick with Kitna and nobody wants Troy Smith cause' he's the nesxt ANDRE WARE!

I think the Raiders will take him as the first overall pick. *GASP* They desperately need a new QB. Smith is the best QB in NCAAF right now and I don't care about his height. You're right about his arm and vision. Look at Drew Brees too! He's 6'1" and he's a great player!

Troy Smith = Kordell Stewart
The NFL is a pocket passers league (ex. Manning, Brady, Brees, Palmer etc.) and I don't think troy has the arm to be at their level, i do think he'd be a solid backup though.

I believe that Troy Smith will go in the top 10, most likely to the Oakland Raiders or maybe the Houston Texans.

the only reason this is is becuase he is a scrambling quaterback. pocket quatrerback i.e. Peyton, Carson, Rivers, are the best overall qbs. You have you scramblers, Vick, who are inconsistant and can usually just get the job done only on the ground. Smith will go early, but with just an OK career.
