It's not legal to own a skink without a wildlife permit, because there is a high rabies risk with skunks.

I agree with the above- the wildlife permit to own a skunk is not that expensive though. I believe my aunt pays about $35 a year, though that is in WI.
I am glad you are going through a breeder- it is also illegal to own a wild caught skunk, or one without a complete pedigree.
They make pretty interesting and nice pets, as long as you don't mind the musky odor. They are a lot like cats, and I know of some that will sit on your lap for days. Everyone I have met was hand shy though- you had to work to grab it, but then it would sit quietly afterwards.

I am not positive ...
but I believe you can not 'Harbor' nor own as a pet
a wild animal without a specialty license.

sad - I had a pet skunk when I was a kid ... and she was awesome.
