OK ignore all those lame answers above me. I mean, I hate to be rude and all, and I don't want to be mean but they seriously don't know what they are talking about. I recently went through the same dilemma as you. I learned that it is completely appropriate and 100% respectful to wear the following: a pastel colored polo shirt (doesn't have to be designer or anything, just the standard polo is perfect), a pair of comfy-looking, well-fitting jeans (it is important for the parents to know you aren't afraid of them and you aren't afraid to be comfortable in front of them. khakis make you look like a nervous wreck, I hate to say it but it's true), a white collared linen lightweight jacket (or any other white, nice looking cover up to cover the 'I'm responsible' part of your outfit), and a pair of BLACK or BROWN sandlas(DO NOT TRY ANY OTHER COLOR, your ensemble will end up looking like a circus clown, trust me I have tried!!!!!!)!

I'm sorry if I came on a little strong or if I was too literal for you but I gave you direct information, not like the 'Believe in yourself" or "it depends on the souls of the parents" or anything. Hope this helps!!!

A shirt with a color and buttons. Wear a belt. Clean shoes. Very light colonge. If you want to wear a hat, take it off before you go inside, put it back on during the date or whatever.

Well for one thing wear what you feel comfy in and please dont wear those tacky jeans with holes in all the wrong places. Look nice but not overly nice. Just comfortable without the tee shirt but a nice button up shirt. That will make an impression.

Wear something clean and neat. Your hair should also be trimmed and clean. Be yourself and have fun. Be very respectful to the parents and ALWAYS to your girlfriend. If you treat her well her parents will like you.
Good Luck
