What to wear at Bat Mitzvah?

I was invited at Bat Mitzvah and for the evening party I bought a red,long,satin cuff ballgown.I have never been to such a party before and I am really afraid that I'll be overdressed.Someone told me that a cocktail dress is a better choice.I still have a week to return this and find more appropriate one.But which and where?

I went through the same dilemma last week. It was for a bat mitzvah. I had never been to one and was really unsure what to wear. My friends and the host of the bat mitzvah told me that it is ALWAYS appropriate to wear (for girls!) a knee length, colorful dress. To the after party, it is OK to wear the same thing, or a different dress is usualy what people opt for for variety and to show respect that you made an effort to be there and be neat and tidy looking.

Go to Forever 21, or American Eagle. The have some more casual dresses. Forever 21 is alos chic for cheap. So it one of my favoraite stores because of that fact. Heres some ideas. All all under 40$. There are like 20 pages I pick some ones I though was cute and apporiate.

look on the invitation.. usually it will tell you what the attire is, and if it doesnt i suggest talking to the host of the party. theyll be able to tell you.
