that is a tough question to answer. specially in a small paragraph. you stated right -- there are arguments and causes on both sides. mainly Palestinian and the Israeli side. i would not --enlarge it to call Arab Israel conflict. since the last one is even larger than the first one i.e.palestinian vs. Israeli. the problem is mainly physical territory. the Israel-is have settled officially since 1948 and constitute a democratic nation with some 6 mil. people. the Palestinians -- have not accepted "war defeat" and claim those lands on the basis that their population has to settle "somewhere". Jordan rejected the Palestinians, in majority. other Arab countries, Syria, Egypt, Iraq did not integrate the Palestinians into their midst. Lebanon reluctantly accepted and they are having an "identity problem". in summary the problem/s is complex but not un-surmountable. in conclusion the political will from the losing side -- is certainly missing. and the Israel-is do not want to give up what is already acquired during the hard won wars. the complexity of the problem lies with both sides -- whose "innocent" population suffers from inaction of their leaders. case not finished, nor rested.

Israel is under the justification of Zionism, which sought to establish a Jewish state, and received widespread support after the Holocaust.

Palestinians point out that they had been living there for centuries already, that in the early 1900's there WAS an official nation called Palestine, and that the people living were there for generations, were as most Israelis (some 98%) today are descended from outside immigration.

The Arabs say... we must kill all the Jews, push them into the sea, remove them from the face of the earth.

The Jews say, I don't think so!

The Arab leaders (note that all are Dictators , Kings, Mullahs, etc, not Democratically elected governments) have to make the Jews seem like devils.
Otherwise, their people will say, why can't we be like that.
Elect our government, start our own businesses, make ourselves successful... instead of staying poor & under the thumb of a dictator.
