My brother is gay, and for almost a year he has been on a self imposed sabbatical from sex, dating, etc., says he is healing from a former relationship, (the last guy he was with was a total Azz)
I think its time he ended the damn thing and get out and meet someone, how do I encourage him?

Dee,
If that is what he needs to heal, maybe it is best that you should respect it. Healing is difficult sometimes and it takes time.

Desire is very strong and I expect love will come again in its own time. You want to be the one in his life that understands, and not pushes. He probably is looking and getting a CAM for Christmas may help. A first class plane ticket to Connecticut would work nicely too.

Sometimes time does heal all things including the heart and as for your brother-he is not ready yet. He must have invested a lot of his heart into his ex. and it sometimes takes years for people to heal but they generally do.
Know a gal that has been on sabbatical for over 11 years but that is because her partner died.
Try not to force him it will only make him go into his shell further.
Just be the great sister you are and support his actions- he'll love you all the more for it.

Hi! Having gotten to chat with your brother a wee bit, I understand him to be a deep thinker, with profound respect for ancient wisdom. So let's talk some about the sabbath. In the Hebrew scriptures the sabbath was given as a gift to not only mankind, but the entire creation. In the first creation story, God himself rests from his labors on the evening and the morning of the seventh day. The Jewish people were directed to rest as well, not as a punishment or penance, but as a gift. Even the ground was to be given this sabbath rest on the seventh year, and to lie fallow. My point is, a sabbath was not some ascetic form of self discipline, it was representative of rest, enjoyment, peace and acceptance. And it was one part to six parts. Reality dictated that one could not rest seven days and get on with life. I would not push your (beautiful) brother. I would just remind him that the cows need to be milked, the fields need to be plowed, and the dead need to be buried. Perhaps he will get the imagery. How lucky are you both to have each other!

An habit is in no way a physically powerful factor, yet neither are idiots and trolls who stress you to bypass into opposite when you consider that in case you get to any extent further violations which will advise a suspension. i'm in basic terms returning from one, or perhaps now i'm being slightly careful. i've got made my Q and A's inner maximum (quickly) because of fact the trolls have been reporting me left and precise for issues which (many times) weren't reportable. After what got here approximately, i will in no way be as energetic as I as quickly as replaced into, and if i do land up being suspended right here, which would be it for me right here. No clones, no no longer something. unhappy, truly.

Grief doesn't have a timeline, but I agree with you, enough is enough. Start slow, have a dinner party and invite some gay friends to just get him talking again. Shove that boy back into his life so that he can find that guy that is out there waiting to make him happy.

Good luck!

You should respect him enough to allow HIM to decide when it's time to stop.

You can give him your opinion but don't push too hard. After all, it's his life.
