Ive got a baxi 105e combi and its behaving very badly, the hot water side is fine and so is the heating.... to a point.
When the timer kicks in, it will fire up, get to temp (after prob 15-20mins) and then shut down and thats it. It wont heat again unless its been switched off for a while and cooled off.
Some times it will maintain the temp for a few hours sometimes a few minutes.
Ive tried-
Replaceing the heating thermostat... it worked for a day then failed.
Stripped the 3 way valve- diaphrams ok, all parts free & not siezed.... it worked for a day then failed.
Bridged the timer out so was on constant.... it worked for 2 days then failed.
Emptied the whole system and re-filled (with inhibiter)... same story, worked for a while then failed again.
Ive spoke to a couple of plumbers and the general consession was to keep buying new parts and fitting until the problem went away??? (this is why I haven't involved them yet!)
Anyone qualified who knows what they are talking about?

Call Baxi sevice engineer for diagnosis and repair, before you waste time and money replacing all the parts, cheaper in the long run!

You haven't said what the diagnostic display indicates. The bottom row of lights helps point you in the right direction.
When it stops do you have to reset or will it eventually start up on its own. ?
It sounds to me that it has to be on temperature sensors. Vocera 7022 thermistors are the same as Baxi and 1/2 the price.

You say it worked for two days when you isolated the clock. I replaced a built in clock this week .. open circuited
Do you have a room stat ?
When it locks out on heating have you tried swapping sensors just unplug the lead and put onto another thermistor low voltage no need to switch off or screw in.
Jump the switch contacts ( with the front down and looking at the back of the clock its the two on the right. ) the other 2 are at mains voltage.
Apart from the possibility of a sticking relay ( try a gentle tap on them and a little side pressure in case of a dry joint ) PCBs either work or they don't Try this when the boiler has stopped.
I also had a pump last week that ran for an hour then went open circuit on the windings. DHW was no problem who runs a tap for an hour but the heating was playing up.
Other than that you just have to try and catch it when it stops.

Given it some thought this afternoon think I would go for the pump first

hi phil, not easy to diagnose these intermittent faults without looking at it but you may want to check when the diverter valve is working the spindle is coming out far enough to operate the microswitch. The other things are to contact Baxi, ask for technical advice and chat to an engineer. The other site is
ask the trades
do a search and check the plumbing forum always a lot of queries on baxi 105e (not a good sign) Good luck

Check to see if your boiler is losing the water pressure. If that is okay, then i can only suggest that you have a problem with the PCB. Get it checked out and replaced under guarentee. I have had lots of problems with new boilers being faulty

Take out the Heat exchanger.
Gently hit with wooden hammer or such.
Rinse in water.
If black bits come out then it is scaled-up.
Either buy a new one £70 ish!
Or keep tapping until relatively clean.
Re-install and check system.
This worked for my daughter's boiler.
Good luck
