Hairspray. I know it sounds stupid but I'm serious. I had an ink pen bust in my pocket the other day and I sprayed hair spray on it and it came right out. Just spray it on the spot, BLOT do NOT RUB- that will only make it worse- then wet a rag with HOT water and BLOT again. Repeat if it all didn't come out the first time. Good luck!

Alcohol works fairly properly, purely be certain you no longer use around motions and don't enable the alcohol get to the carpet backing because of the fact it is going to wreck up the glue. you ought to use dish detergent too as long because it would not have lanolin or bleach. Make a mix of a million qt. water and a million/4 t. of detergent. Then sparkling the spot with a blotting action. on no account rubbing or around! Then rinse the are with a sprig bottle. attempt protecting the spot with paper towels and a brick or heavy books in one day. you would be shocked how properly that works.

There are some specialty cleaners available like "Oops! multi-purpose remover" to remove things like ink, lipstick, gum, sticker adhesive residue, etc. I'm sure their effectiveness varies.
I noticed the first answer suggested using dishwashing detergent. If that works, great. But I would suggest a final cleanup with a special carpet spot cleaner to remove any soap/detergent residue.

2 suggestions: the tide stain stick... my wiggly teen had an uncapped SHARPEE in his back pocket. It got all over my new microfiber couch. Several applications of the stain stick actually took it out, so try that :-)
Also, I worked in a grocery store AGES ago when we used a metal device to punch the prices on cans of food, loaded with a super dying ink that stained everything. The 'eraser' device (for when they wanted to mark up the price) smelled like amonia. So I would wipe my hands off with ammonia and water solution. It really took out that stain, so try ammonia and water , and a little scrub brush, like a vegetable scrubber. Good luck!

Before trying the hairspray make sure to test in a small spot. Acetone will also remove it but may remove it right down to the floor boards so test before using.
Try using just plain Laundry Shout stain remover to remove this stain.

:-D
i guess it just depends on what type of carpet. like, mines a short type of carpet making it easy to remove stains. but if you have long or shaggy carpet, im not sure what you'd need.
