My fish, Carlton, has lost his color and will barely eat. He basically lays at the bottom of the fishbowl. I actually thought he was dead yesterday. I have been neglectful to him, not changing his water frequently enough and accidently skipping feedings. I really don't want him to die, how can I nurse him back to health?

You must not neglect changing his water frequently, especially since he lives in a bowl. Fish waste releases ammonia & nitrites into the water. These chemicals are toxic & high levels will kill your fish. Your water may appear clean, but these chemicals cannot be seen.
Always change your water every 2 days. Feed the fish in the morning & at night, a few pellets, or freeze-dried bloodworms. Remove uneaten food within a few minutes. Uneaten food also will release ammonia.

Medicating him will not do anything.
He is dying because you keep him in a fishbowl and neglect him. Skipping a feeding or two is not a big deal, but not cleaning the water in a fish bowl is lethal. Ammonia builds up very quickly, and ammonia is Toxis with a capital T. It causes pain, sickness, and eventually death,
The best thing you could do for him would be to get him a real tank, like 5 gallons, with a filter, and a heater, and cycle it, and do weekly water changes.

Good luck with the little guy. I hope he pulls through. Proper care is your best bet.

Change his water! Bettas can get all sorts of diseases from dirty water. It doesn't really matter if you skip feeding them, as long as they get some food during the day. I recommend 1 pellet 3 times a day. If he continues to sulk, I recommend BettaFix Remedy. If that doesn't do the trick, best of luck to you.

Yes, my fish turned clear too, but the irregular eating is unusual. Keep trying!
