A source inside the white house reported abuses of power to reporters at the Washington Post and the information was published in the paper. After people became aware of the violations in the law they turned on Nixon making it impossible for him to maintain power and he was forced to resign. The press was responsible for exposing the president acting as a fourth branch of government able to check the power of the executive.

Generally when a politician has done something that the media can expose or throw in their face they do their part, as they did in His Case. I look up to him for one big reason... All HE HAD TO DO was tell the courts that he didn't hqave the tapes and destroy them. Instead, he handed them over because he was HONEST!
