a pre op TS (which i am) means that you have NOT had your "completion" surgery or SRS (sexual reassignment surgery). in my case, it will be from male to female surgery. all post op means is just that, post operative. in other words, they have HAD the surgery and are now the gender of their choosing, not natures choosing.

A pre-op transsexual has not yet undergone a sex-change operation. However, before this operation most candidates will undergo sex reassignment therapy, taking hormones and attempting life as the opposite gender in order to prepare for the change. Therefore, many pre-op transsexuals can be very convincing as members of the opposite sex.

Post-op just means they've had the operation and are technically the opposite sex from that which they were born as.

Pre-op means that they haven't had the operation done yet. Post-op is someone that has had the operation. Non-op is someone that isn't going to get the operation. "The opperation" is kinda vague though, since there are multiple operations available for people going either direction.

Pre-op is before someone has the genitalia altered, post op is after.

A preop transexual is taking hormones and dressing and living as the sex they are changing to. A postop transexual has had equipment added or removed surgically to complete the physical transformation.

First off if you don't know the answer to this, please continue your counseling sessions and delay surgery.

"pre" operation is before the operation, and you are physically still the gender you were born. "post" operation is after the operation that forever reassigns your gender.

Before surgery, after surgery. Sheesh.
