Hippies did not start the liberal movement. Its roots go far back in time, for the seesaw between those who have faith in man and those who don't is as old as the hills. Hippies looked upon politics largely with amusement and disgust, but found themselves sometimes in support of, or in opposition to, liberals on occasion. They opposed liberals who supported the war in Vietnam, and supported them when they supported the civil rights movement.

basically every scientist that has ever disputed "common knowledge," like those that said the world isn't flat, has been considered a "liberal" at the time...
so it goes back thousands of years, people standing up to traditional ideas in the name of what they can prove is correct... that's the root of liberalism...
but I must say, your ideas on the subject are typical of your kind and of the website you promote... maybe you should... try going to school... taking a history class...

No, liberalism started with the declaration of independence, the constitution, the end of slavery (yes, I KNOW Abe Lincoln was a republican, but nonetheless,) and pretty much every revolutionary change that has taken place in this country. Liberalism is change, progress- Conservatism is staying the same. If we'd listened to the conservatives we'd probably still be part of England.

No....That kind of thought goes way back.... Marx/Lenin pushed it along, but they weren't the first. I believe that it is some kind of mental disorder.... possibly genetic... it could be serious enough to bring an end to the species. But they don't reproduce much, so maybe the human race has a chance yet.
