I'm in college and work part-time in the computer lab, between classes..my supervisor is normally a very friendly person but lately he's been getting on my nerves. He's talking either about his ex-gf or his internet gf ALL the time..he messages me about them on msn, he tells me about them if he sees me at college - and it's getting annoying now. To be honest, I don't care what they said or did to him. So while talking to him on msn i said that i was going to bed and he didn't respond; he probably understood that i didn't want to talk. But was I rude to him?

No, it wasn't rude because he is involving you in his personal life that you don't want to be involved in. If anyone was being rude it was him.

No you were not rude, after all your supervisor should be considerate of you because you wanted to go to sleep. I'm sure your supervisor will get over it. Don't loose sleep over this issue.

No...but a more direct approach would work better. Just tell him you're not interested in talking about his personal life
