No, it is only blocking a sewer access pipe (pipe is vertical and I want to cap the top)

(Plugs are common up to 4", not 6" at hardware stores...tried that)

Outside of pipe is encased in concrete (it's in the floor). I need a plug that threads in or sits inside and is very close to flush. (Needs to be weight bearing)

Yes, and you can get them in cast iron, brass or plastic. A Lowes, Home Depot or Menards should have them, otherwise find a plumbing shop.

The pipe is probably cast iron. Make sure you know the number of threads per inch. Go to Lowes or whoever and look for the cleanout plug first. Plastic will work if it has the same threads per inch. Make sure to get some pipe dope to help seal the threads. Also, like someone else said use some plastic wrap and a rubber band to keep sewer gas out of your house while it is open. If not there go to the local plumbing supply or pipe supply house and ask for the pipe plug. If not there go to www.midamerica.thomasnet.com What you are looking for is a 109BL-24 pipe plug. 150# malleable iron fitting. Putting it in backwards will hide the square knob on it that you use to install and remove it, but you may never get it out if you need to use the clean out. Use plenty of pipe dope.

4" plug is common. 6" might be hard to find. If you can't find one. wrap the pipe end with heavy plastic and seal it with masking tape. That will keep the sewer gas in the sewer and not in your house.

6" is a common size for a pipe plug, you can get it in steel, cast iron, or PVC. Go to your local hardware store and ask for a 6" pipe plug.

they people on top are right, just a pointer, if you need it flush on top, put it in upside down when you find it, that way, you wont have the square nut on top above floor height. it is a inverted square on the other side, you on that size plug, you can find something odd that will fit into the square to tighten it up, like the claw of a small hammer, etc....

You could have a machine shop make a piece to fit your application (expensive though)
