Whatever guidence counsellors and your parents tell you is likely going to be crap. You know why, no one wants to be an accountant, plummer, or sales guy when they grow up. That's boring (however, people do it because it pays the bills). Instead, ask yourself what makes you happy and what you would do on your day off (even if it is skateboarding, sports, or being an artists). Whatever that is is what you should do (and don't let people say "you can't do that". guess what, someone out there is so why not you?). I went to college and got a degree in Marketing and Computers. Now i'm in my 5th job since college ended in 2002 and I've found that my degree is virtually worthless (except for that piece of paper that says I graduated). It's only now that I'm realizing that I want to be my own boss, not have someone tell me when I can go on vacation, and do what I love (which is work in sports).
To many people some things are more important in life than "enjoying your work". Before you get too far into life where you can't turn back, make sure you aren't one of those people. You only live on this earth once and you are going to spend the majority of that time working. Don't follow everyone else's lead and "just get a job". Instead follow your heart. Not only will you be happier but you are more likely to do better at your job if you love it. Don't be afraid to dream.

Relax you have time but the most important thing to do is something you love! What do you really love right now? health, fitness? Teaching? Animals etc ... but you have one thing I could only dream of ... communication skills! YOU SEE, I am deathly afraid of public speaking as are many others! So use that skill in maybe being a news anchor on TV or a spokesperson for a cooperation! Public speaking is hard for many and maybe that is your skill! Good luck!

Depending to your membership, they might not be in search of grownup competitions. So to begin with, you have got to allow the coaches and membership realize you are excited by competing. Then, there is also the challenge that the coaches themselves have no idea approximately the competitions. If you are like one or 2 or 3 grownup participants there, you are going to have got to do the paintings your self. Uhm just about, uncover the regional skating firms, their time table's, regional skating boards, and many others - see whilst the grownup competitions are and what the checking out standards for them are. If you meet the experiment standards, see what their different standards are. At my membership - different nation even though - the membership demands to signal you up for a contest. I pay attention within the USA ppl can do this themselves even though. Anyway then you definately pay the rate and also you cross to the contest. As an grownup, you do not relatively have got to carry the train if you do not wish to run up the fee.

You have to find out what you have passion for. What do you love doing? Start trying new things, the sooner you start this the happy you you will be in your current reality. Don't worry about a career just yet, just focus on what you love doing. I wish I knew this information when I was young. Follow your heart and go after your dreams, then money, career, and success will follow.

Ask your guidance counselor to hook you up with a volunteer opportunity in your area of interest. That way, you could see if you really like it or not before wasting money on college.
