Not for a long while - I hear lots of finches and swallows when I step out in the morning for a smoke, but I haven't seen or heard a sparrow in a long time.

i saw them last week here in florida. i've seen them on both coasts of america as well. also, sparrows are worldwide, they're all over Europe and Israel, i've lived in both areas, so i don't know where else they are, but am comfortable in saying that they are worldwide. try putting out a bird feeder filled with things sparrows love, but avoid the larger seeds, you don't want them to accidentally suffocate if one gets lodged in their throat.

I have mature giant pine trees around where I live, many have nests in them. Never thought about it, hardly see any now. Had a few this summer, not like it used to be.

I saw on just the other day - it was flying South for the winter (it stopped to ask me directions). True story! I am the "real" bird whisperer.

I don't think I've ever heard one but I'm not that good at identifying birds so I wouldn't know.
