I think it would be considered a private good because it is excludable and rival?

I would consider it public. People pay to fly on their airplanes, and they don't turn people away. Some airlines are private, excluding some people, but airlines like Delta will let anyone fly with them.

correct: it is a private good.
BUT it is a regulated good and must be also considered a public good. Some airlines cannot go to certain airports re: dallas international and Love field.
