depends what you like..lyrics or style.
Megadeth has more meaningful lyrics, to me, anyway.
Metallica has gone down hill after the Black album, however, Im on old metal fan. I like Justice for all as far as Metallica goes.
Megadeth, I like Alive and Well , the live cd's put out in 2002-2003 somewhere around there.

Mustaine is alot better guitarist than Hetfield. Hetfield wont even dispute that, thats why Mustaine was their LEAD guitarist. But, Mustaine doesnt start to really sing, until the Countdown to Extinction LP.

The people dogging Megadeth are just ingorant to the band, and I dont mean that as an insult.
They recently put out another CD called "The System has Failed" go listen to the track "Kick the Chair" it rocks harder than anything Metallica has done in the last 20 years.

MEGADETH!
I lost my respect for metallica when they started talking **** about shredding, but ive always been a megadeth fan over metallica.
I like certain periods from both these bands. I think Megadeth's experimentation and development as a band was more palatable. Technically i beleive they are more gifted musically. Kirk Hammett's a great guitar player but Dave's, Marty and Chris Poland's guitar playing was always better, and we cant forget (for those of you that can remember ) Slayer's Kerry King and Jeff Hanneman both admired Mustaine's guitar work in Metallica before he was booted out of the band. Megadeth all the way.

Megadeth i think of the finished physique of artwork is plenty extra constructive than Metallica as i think of Metallica purely has 4 quite sturdy albums. i do no longer think of Hammett is almost the guitarist that Mustaine is..have you ever heard Mustaine's artwork on United Abominations? once you get Billy Corgon of the Smashing Pumpkins going as much as you and asking how do you are attempting this then you definately are definitely doing some thing ideal.

Though i dont listen to either alot,I'd say Megadeth, Metallica went way downhill
