I have a feeling that some of these questions are home do, meaning that students don't want to do homework, so they get others to do it on Yahoo.

Should there be a boycott of answering homework questions that are posted by people who don't want to learn?

These kids are our future and it is going to be a bleak one as they are to lazy to look up, read, or think of the answers to homework themselves. Some just want a little help getting started but the majority wants the whole answer in detail. kelxcore09 who is taking chemistry in college is so bold as to ask for no sarcastic answers and will report you if you give answers that are obviously snotty although it is a valid answer but not one she can turn in. She wants all her homework done by us and then expects to go out in the working world and start working in the chemistry field. She could end up doing someone great harm. ♠

I answer questions where the kid is asking a simple question like "What's the difference between 'ser' and 'estar'" or "Can this be solved using such and such process?" I rarely answer questions where they give 15 questions and are like "Could someone please do all of these, plz? I'll give you ten points..." or "Does anyone have a 10 page paper/ is anyone willing to write a ten page paper about the price of coffee on the moon. I'll give ten points?" Ridiculous questions like that make me feel like I'm being used, and I may give an answer like "you're so silly. Ten WHOLE points... Stay in school."

Yahoo answers wasn't around when I was in high school, and I don't use it for homework now in college. I turned out fine. They'll be okay, if we don't do their homework for them. Worst case scenario, they don't do their homework (their own fault). Best case scenario, they take responsibility and do their own work.

I agree!!!! I don't even think about answering a question if there is a small possibility it is helping a kid do their homework b/c they are too lazy to actually LEARN it themselves!

Hey, if they're lazy and don't want to learn, that's their loss in the long run. If we boycotted their homework questions, they'd find another way. They'd copy from their friends at school or whatever, so they'll always be lazy.

Occasionally, I think kids just need a nudge in the right direction. I don't have a problem with that at all. The kids who say, "Answer this...." -- that I have a problem with. They should be researching and thinking for themselves.

Yes, because these kids will NEVER learn anything, if people do their work for them.

Yes and no. You'll learn if you look at it but mostly yes because you'll usually copy it down. Sigh!

I'm wondering whether the homework-do crowd should get extra credit for being resourceful enough to find someone else to do their homework for them.

I definitely think people should answer & say "hey, you're already on the Net. Just look it up."
