This is for the All-State band (I play trumpet), and I'd like to do well. We have to play scales (up to 3 sharps and 3 flats), a solo (which I know...well), and sight-read (which I'm not so hot at). How do I keep the worrying to a minimum, and is there anything I should do to get ready?

As many/as fast answers as possible'd be great, I'm not sure if I can get on again before Saturday. Oh, the audition's at 1:00p.m.

Thanks!

Thanks so far guys...I'm getting really nervous. xD

However, it's a blind judging, I'm not allowed to talk and they have their backs turned.

I can't help you on the music stuff (other than to say practice practice practice right up to two days before your audition).

But you can treat it like a test, and use the same tactics.

Get a good night's sleep the night before and DO NOT PRACTICE AT ALL on Friday - just chill and get yourself in the right frame of mind.

Wake up in plenty of time to get there.

Eat a good breakfast.

Psych yourself into a good frame of mind on your way there - think to yourself that you WILL ace the audition and get put on the All-State Band.

Get their early, so you're not rushed or hurried and can calmly wait to be called.

Make sure to use the ladies room before you go in and audition (you don't want to be distracted by a full bladder while you are trying to perform)

Basically that's the best I can do - I hope that helps!

Good luck Saturday - I know you'll do great!

Practice your sight reading.....and practice, practice, and practice more. Make sure you get a good nights sleep on Friday night. Best of luck to you.
