They get offended when I tell them I am not interested in what they have to say. Then they say something passive aggressive like "have a nice day," with a tone that says screw you. It may not seem like an issue to some but I live in Tucson. Utah is the neighboring state and the LDS here are ubiquitous.

Sorry you've had a bad experience(s) with the missionaries. Have you ever listened to them? Maybe if you listen once, then you can at least say that you've heard what they have to say and that you're not interested. Or maybe you can get their point of view on a particular issue. They may provide some clarity for you, or maybe they can (by having a different perspective) help crystallize for you your beliefs. I frequent the Religion & Spirituality category and while I don't agree with many of the answers, reading them does sometimes help me know what I believe.
If you've tried all of this or it sounds like too much work, why not print up a little note to tape to your door that says something like No Solicitors, Door to Door Salesmen, or Missionaries. I've seen and heard of some really cute ones that in a fun way gets the point across.

I've been a "Mormon" for quite a spell, have served a mission, and worked with and know literally scores of missionaries. I can count on the fingers of one hand when I've seen a missionary act rudely, and then only when seriously provoked.
Hey, we're human, so I sure can't say it didn't happen they way you write it, but it's just not us -- and one should not judge my faith by your post.

Because they believe they are trying to "save" you. I grew up in Utah and had several friends who became missionaries....and they almost brainwashed me into converting! Basically, they feel bad for non-LDS people because they believe their religion is the only "true" religion and those who aren't LDS are doomed. LOL
They stopped coming to our house, but I think that's because my dad got pissed and told them to never step foot on his property again. You gotta do whatever you gotta do to get it through their thick skulls.

they are a cult trying to impose their views thats what organized religion is about
how many people feel drawn to any religious group becuz they want to
now if there was a place of worship that figured out how to live a thousand years or has some divine secret to share maybe that would motivate me to join
people with true spiritual wisdom dont need to recruit others
others will see by the example they set and instead will come to them freely on their own initiative

Greetings, Tucson here as well.
They are miserable by choice as required by their brutally judgmental and human-hating Old Testament-style God. It is their mission in life to bring misery to all mankind and no one can doubt their dedication to the task.
Recently, I avoided a pair of their neo-Nazi youth in a parking lot when they were intercepted by an old man (who obviously spotted them for what they were) who had a few words for them. The LDS-ers immediately said, “you’re Catholic’, and the argument was on.
I mention this hoping someone can tell me if and why there is open warfare between the Mormon and Catholic Churches. It was something new to me. If I had the time, I would have bought the old man a beer.

They are sent to tell you of their "good news". If you don't want to talk to them, tell them that they are following a false prophet and God has commanded you in the book of Deuteronomy to have nothing to do with false prophets!
