I would go ahead and get them a nice gift.. because their is a good chance that someone will find out who you are and you might as well not look like a creep buying a crappy present.

A nice gift, because people often tend to find out who their secret Santa is. That way the person might change their attitude towards you (if their attitude is what's the problem).

If not liking them was really deserved I would get a cheap gift and lose it. Or I would get a really nice gift and keep it myself.

I would still get them something nice b/c that is how I would like to be treated. No since in being rude and all.

If it's a co-worker or family member, get them a nice present - a tin of homemade cookies would be acceptable, also.

I would try to trade for somebody I did like...I had that happen once and wound up picking my boss's name, who I absolutely could not stand and in no way would go spend money on him for ANYTHING! Thankfully one of my coworkers was willing to switch so I could get somebody I could at least tolerate!
