Is it a brand new aquarium? A bacterial cloud happens in a new aquarium. This usually clears within a few days, is harmless and is OK!! Be very careful with a new aquarium. It is better to feed less food more often, than 2 heaping amounts twice a day. If you keep changing all the water to get rid of the cloudiness then you are in a vicious circle. Try small frequent water changes(25% once a week)to see if it helps. There are 2 types of chemicals to help u. One is for bacterial clouds and it helps the process(the cloudiness is called a bacterial bloom-tons of healthy bacteria growing all at once) the other is for suspended dirt. What it does is it chemically binds the dirt so it can be picked up by your filter. You seem to be using an undergravel grid filter. This is most likely a bacterial bloom as that is what they are for. The bacteria grow under there, the dirt sinks to the bottom into the grid, and the bacteria deal with it for u. The only downside is that when you stir up the bottom, it looks like a bomb went off. I personally hate them, but in a 1 gal, u dont have much choice. I would slow down the feedings. Do a partial water change. My bet is your fish aren't sick, so wait it out. Nature will take its course. Be careful though, dont overfeed. Frequent water changes in a 1 gal as goldfish R V. messy

Because your tank is way too small!!!! What do you expect? Goldfish are poop machines! You can NOT put a goldish in a 1 gallon tank and not expect it to cloud within a day or two.
GET YOUR GOLDFISH OUT OF THAT 1 GALLON TANK!!!! IT WILL DIE IF YOU DON'T! Why do you keep asking all these questions when you obviously KNOW that need a bigger tank? If you can't get a bigger tank, GIVE YOUR FISH A CHANCE AT LIFE AND BRING IT BACK TO THE PETSTORE. It WILL die with you.

And Shaebee27, I will tell you that your tank is too small. Because it is way way way way too small for a goldfish, let alone two. Don't 'work on getting a bigger one' - GET a bigger one, Keeping them in such a small tank is doing irreperable damage to your fish. If you can't get one like, next week, brng your fish back to the petstore, and wait until you get a bigger tank before getting goldfish.

Well your tank is small for a goldfish but my two goldfish are duing fine in their temporary 1.7 gallon tank (please don't tell me this is two small I know that Im working on it) I know tank buddies makes a water clearing formula that you can pick up at petco and petsmart and probably any little pet store. You should feed a goldfish once or twice a day no more then it can eat in two minutes tops. You also may need to test your water quality

You have a small tank so overfeeding could be the cause. Feed your fish 2 times a day only what it will eat in 5 minutes. Your filter may be too small. You can go to a fish store and buy a test kit. Uneaten food can be bad to your water system quickly. You can keep your PH and ammonia concentrations in check by the chemical test kit you mentioned buying.
