Sadly some countries that have siestas or at least long midday breaks are trying to eliminate them to increase competitiveness in the world market place.
Siestas were popular in tropical and subtropical countries where the afternoon temperatures made productive work difficult or impossible. With the rise of air conditioning this function is less important even if our bodies are wired for an afternoon nap.

It's got my vote! I hit an afternoon slump everyday around 1pm, and I just KNOW its my primorial clock saying it's time to shut down the PC, disconnect the phone, and get a quality snooze for at least 10 minutes!

I bet you could take over the world on that platform.... you have my vote.
I function best and accomplish more on days that include a nap.

I agree! Other than its obvious pleasure factor studies have shown that it's what our bodies and our minds need to regenerate, stay alert and take care of business.
