If you are Christian or Jewish then I think bible names are best. I don't like the trend of coming up with some weird name or misspelling a real name. I also think it is particularly important for boys to be named after a positive male family member (at least a middle name). It gives them a sense of family and belonging. For boys and girls I think you should try to put in a family member's name.

A few pointers I received when naming my baby:
Go for a solid name that you will like for years to come. I named my daughter Nicole RoseMarie...her second name after my favorite aunt, who died when I was young. Nicole was my husbands choice, his reasoning being that it is a beatiful, strong name that you can picture belonging to a confident woman. I had really wanted to name her Mackenzie, but now am very glad I didn't because that's becoming so popular. Now we are expecting our second baby, and will name him/her after my husbands grandfather or mother. Anyway, hope that helped. Also, don't pick a weird spelling because they will spend the rest of their life correcting people. Good luck, and Congradulations!

find things that your interested in. My wife and I have 2 kids. Our Son is named Hawk after the powerful totem in alot of Native american beliefs. And our daughter is named Loki after the nordic god of mischief. So I suggest you find a part of your life that is important and you can get very creative from there.
