It could have really happened. Some girls become so mad they could do it. I hope it is only a phrase and not ever done.

Yes it happened to me once. I was aleep in the park and was set upon by an angry squirrel. I was lying on his nuts. It took me ages to find my eyes amongst the leaves and acorns. I couldn't see, you see. Once I'd found them it was simple to pop them back in their sockets though. I gave that squirrel a bit of a talking to, so I did. This story is really true.

There's this really great skit from Monty Python that has soldiers acting very feminine and one says "I'll scratch his eyes out." So funny!

It's a cat fight phrase. When cats fight they claw at the eyes of the other cat. I don't think it's ever happened but who knows girls can be vicious sometimes.
