trade him. it will be hard to do but he is slowing down now and is on the decline. Yeah hes a good hitter but he is a terrible outfeilder and the red sox already have a dh. They could get some good players. I read that they might have a deal going with the mariners.

Manny should stay whether he wants to or not. Even a disgruntled Manny is worth more to the team over the length of the season than anyone the Red Sox could get in a trade for him right now.

No way in hell should the Sox trade him. He is the best thing that ever happened to David Ortiz. With out Manny big Papi would never get a good pitch to hit. As a Yankee fan I hope the Sox trade him. He kills the Yanks every year as well as the rest of the league. He is good for at least 30 hr's and 120 RBi's every year. They are nuts if they trade him.

Im growing tired of everyone in Red Sox nation saying trade Manny, we don't need him. I am an avid Red Sox and Manny fan. However, I do agree that his antics take away from the focus of the team. Yet people do not see beyond his numbers.

So lets address those numbers. He is the best hitter in baseball. Ok, him or Albert Pujols. He is better than Ortiz. He is better than Bonds. His OPS for his career is over 1.000, batting average over .305, and he will hit over 35 HRs and drive in over 120 runs every single year, as well as be on base at least with a .400 average. No hitter in baseball has stats like his, and they arent declining. While his HRs were down (for Manny) this year, he missed over 30 games. A healthy Manny Ramirez can single handedly be responsible for 15 more wins for the Red Sox each year. I know, a healthy Manny is a tough thing to rely on because is getting "old" by pro sports standards, but he is still the best.

But also you have to look at how he molds the lineup. He makes Ortiz better. Everyone talks about how many times Ortiz has ended games with walk offs. While yes it is due in great part to Ortiz's skill, it is almost as much to do with the fact that Manny hits after him. Regardless of how hot Ortiz may be hitting, every manager and every pitcher in baseball would rather pitch to Ortiz with the game on the line than Manny because Manny is a better hitter. He hits good pitching, not just mistakes. Take Manny out of the lineup, even with JD Drew or whoever else they might put in there, teams will walk Ortiz at an unheard of rate and not allow him to have a chance to hit all the home runs and drive in all the runs. Many scouts say that if Ortiz doesn't have protection he is an "above average power hitter at best". That means batting .260, 30 HR, 100 RBI. Those are good numbers, but they aren't what we've gotten out of Papi in the past.

Getting rid of Manny might get rid of his ego, but its no different than getting rid of Pedro. Schilling hasnt had nearly the season he had in 2004. While Pedro was a malcontent, having to face 2 aces in one series was not only difficult for teams but it made them change their own rotations and schemes when they played the Red Sox. The same is with Ortiz and Manny. Without Manny, Ortiz isn't nearly as dangerous. Schilling faces 15% more #1 pitchers now without Pedro there and he's losing to them more than before.

We can't trade Manny, bottom line.

Keep him. I think there will be an uprising in the city of Boston if the Red Sox front office makes another bonehead trade/move. Papi and Manny are agueably the best 1-2 punch in baseball...ever. You know Manny's getting a hit with runners on base, especially against the Yankees. As a Yankees fan,I cringe whenever Manny (or Papi) gets up in a crucial situation. Yankees fans root for Manny to leave and Boston fans will definately want him to stay.

I'm a Yankees fan and dread to see Manny Ramirez. They should keep him. I don't think he is declining. He still has a consistent bat which produces 30+ HR's and 100+ RBI's every year. Manny and Ortiz are the best 3-4 combo in the league and the Sox shouldn't mess that up. They should give them a supporting cast.

They SHOULD trade him, but will they? i dont think so. I mean, The Red Sox are insane, with some of the stuff theyre asking for. It's like they want to trade him but realize how stupid it would be to trade him, so they ask for all this ridiculous stuff from teams for Manny and then when the team goes HELL NO! they go, oh well, we tried to trade you Manny, but no dice. LOL. they asked for Seattles Closer JJ Putz, as well as the best prospect in their minors, AND the second best prospect in their minors.. AND the Red Sox wanted Seattle to assume all of the money owed Manny AS WELL as give Manny an extention and MORE money... LMAO... Ild say thats a bit much.

They should trade him. I'm tired of Manny just being Manny. He needs to grow up. I know he's good for 120 RBI's and 30-35 home runs, but his attitude and he feet probably smell the same!

They keep him because now JD Drew makes more than him so Manny is a steal. Plus that lineup wouldn't be the same without him. Guarantee Drew is on the DL for at least 30 games this season.

They need to keep him. Manny is a great player and the BoSox are doing a great job this off season. Keeping Manny will help their chances of winning the AL East next year.
