I have no problem answering questions that are cogent and thoughtful. But, I can't believe the staggering number of totally incomprehensable so-called "questions" that appear here.
It seems to me the US is way too deep into "social promotion" of kids through school just to get rid of them. There has to be something more we can do rather than churning out functional illiterates. If we keep doing that, we truly will lose our place in the world marketplace and community. Some believe we already have or are well on our way!
Any thoughts? Suggestions? Comments?

"The more intelligent people they are exposed to the better."
My fear is that they *think* they are smart and not even realize how much help they need!

Truly, this is my reasoning in opting to go into education. Children today have no life skills, no coping skills and want everything done for them. I beleive that if children are taught to deal with the world around them and have SOME (not all, not heavy) expectations placed upon them, they learn to be accountable for themselves. Survival skills may be another necessity. Nothing irritates me more than doing a serious disaster drill just to have kids chattering amongst themselves because its not real. Some parents feel that doing lock down procedure drills "scares the kids". Well Im freakin sorry, we expirienced a week, a FULL WEEK, in this country of in-school violence and parents are still afraid to help their children cope. Its the cushy cushy attitude and what I sometimes see as "general wussiness" in todays average (not all, average) parent that ends up being their childs downfall, and it needs to be addressed and adjusted IN SCHOOL, so that at least that kid knows that once they leave mommy's house they need to take care of themselves, their attitudes, and their safety.

This is all an insightful and completely correct, although opinionated review on american life. also, among the ones that can actually work there is so much more competition than in other contries that a less competent person can be as sucessful in a country like China, where they actually value intelligence, not just hard work.
those in the entertainment industry can make so much more than those in education that they numbers aren't even comparable. it seems to be heading in the direction that someday, teachers will be volunteers and good teachers will have gone into law, or some other higher paying field.
deep thinking such as your question is expessed much to infrequently. only those with enough free time on their hands actually thing about this.
running long distances is one way to stimulate the mind into such thinking. I don't know how, but it works. during races, I have though almost too much about the meaning of life and the way humanity is going. you should try it.

I try to answer only the cogent and meaningful questions. Sometimes I will answer an ill-written question if the writer sounds foreign, or his 'handle' is obviously from abroad. (Such English may be ungrammatical, but the gist is there.)
What can be done? Two things:
a) Don't answer the rubbish questions
b) Send your kids to a private school or home-educate them so that at least there are SOME well-educated ones for the future. That is what I did.

If raising the level of education is your aim, then encouraging kids to participate in forums such as this is a good thing.
The more intelligent people they are exposed to the better.
Even a smart Aleck with a stupid question must create sentences, think up a stupid question, and read the answers.
This is far better than sitting playing video games.
If we do not wish to answer stupid questions, we don't have to click our mouses now, do we.

Do father and mom of a newly born son or daughter value their little one whether the baby can no longer talk a 2d language in the present day from the womb? yet heavily, it relatively is in basic terms a secret why human beings are not as clever as we decide for to be. In some Islamic custom God created adult men and jinn, and jinn are sentient beings who're made up of stuff like hearth. I point out because of fact in accordance to the classic theory God created us people and the jinn to worship him. And apparently sufficient, people have been created with extra intelligence than the jinn.

Just don't bother reading or answering them; it doesn't help society but you'll find yourself keeping your happy mood longer. And if you want to read some truly frightening questions, go to the pregnancy and parenting section. My favourite recent posting? The THIRTEEN year old who not only saw nothing wrong with being pregnant, but wasn't sure who the father was. You have to try not to worry or dwell on the state of society because it's way too easy to become fixated and depressed.

You would need a real person to make one final review of the question before it goes through.
Although it would slow the rate of questions arriving, it would eliminate such posers as "Do you like my avatar?" and "How many licks does it take...?"
