Because I think that everyone wants to hear good things said about themselves now and then...and it makes the giver of the compliment feel better too!

If the words & compliments are offered sincerely, it makes you feel like someone might just give a damn about you in some small way.

They don't always.

If I feel someone is simply blowing smoke up my @ss to manipulate me, I feel worse.

If the compliments come from someone that I respect, wow! I am speechless :-))

Outside validation is a good thing. Sometimes it is discouraging to think that no one sees you or no one notices what you've done, or how hard you've worked.
