Are you kidding. Sheffield is just a whining overpaid average outfielder at this point in his career. Of course the Yankees are still good they are always good. Sheffield won't make much of a difference.

Is the Pope Catholic?
Of course the Yankees are good. They have one of the best if not the best lineups in baseball.
Damon
Jeter
Rodriguez
Abreu
Matsui
Posada
Cano
Giambi
I'd take that lineup any day.
Even though they get beat up by many in here the pitching staff is still potentially one of the best also. Sheffield didn't play last year and we still won the AL East by 10 games.
As a yankee fan I expect to win every year but remember anything can happen. Do I see the Tigers beating us, no, but they are a good team in a good division. Any team can beat us in a short series.
2007 is the Yankees year.

Yea the yanks are still gonna be pretty good and maybe finish high in their division but the sheffield thing wont have that much of an impact cus he barely played last year as it was because of injury and even when he did play he wasnt leading the team to victory. And i dont think theyre going to beat the Tigers cus right now the Tigers are still the all around better team and the yanks still have some wholes that need to be filled.

I think the Yankees will definetly still be good. There was no place for Sheffield on the team anyway (except maybe 1B where he played terribly.) If he didn't play, he would hurt the team in the clubhouse. The Tigers are a great team who could beat the Yankees, but I think the Yankees still have the advantage IF they get another starter who can be solid and give them innings.

The Yanks will be just fine without Sheffield. Abreu is just as good and fits in better with the Bombers. The Tigers are headed for a big fall from grace next season. They are not going to be nearly as good. The Yankees on the other hand are going to be just fine. They are going to win Championship # 27.

Yes, The Yankees are still good.
The Tigers have good pitching.
Good pitching beats good hitting.
I'm not saying The Tigers will beat The yankees next year.
If they meet in the play-offs The Yankees will be looking to get even, and that will play a major factor.

Yes the Yankees are still good without Sheffield, yes the Tigers are still good with Sheffield, it should be interesting when they meet next year how much passion each team brings into the game.

Yeah, they are. They seem to be realizing that their young talent from the minors is actually pretty damn good, so they dont need to run out and spend on overpriced talent. Theyre still very good.. the AL will be wide open.. The Yankees, Tigers, Red Sox, Angels, Whitesox, Twins, and even Oakland if their pitching is healthy will all be in it to come out of the AL into the WS.

as long as they persue young, live arms and not average pitchers given huge contracts then fall apart once the plane lands in the big apple.. i do like the pettite rumor but not the clemens, lilly, zito ones... pettite was their consistent pitcher in big games all the years they won... no crown on his head.. does he have anything left? i would be willing to take that risk any time.. clemens is a fool ..zito is way overated for the past few years... can you deal a slugger for a couple young triple aaa up and coming pitchers? i think you can, i wanted something for sheffield but he took away the yankees leverage when he wanted to get out and the other teams knew it.. it was funny how he remarked on the steven a smith show about how he is treated with racism in pro ball and he is looking to be treated like a man again... isnt that what he said when he left the marlins and the braves? same ole **** from gary baby.. dosent he feel lucky that he was paid a 13 million dollar salary while sitting in rehab for the hole year and was a dud in the playoffs? how dare the nerve of the yankees asking him to move to first base in order to play him.. ... boy what can you expect these days for 13 million bucks.. get rid of the white man hater and good riddance to a racist bastard that he is..

Hell ya they are still good! All they need to do is strenghten their starting rotation which they are still in the process of. Shffield isnt the world we have other outfielder for example Jonny Damon, Bobby Abreu, Hedeki Matsui, and personally my favorite Melky Cabrera. Also if A-rod steps it up that will cover Sheffields batting stats
