Yes, the song is "Wonderful Tonight." I don't know if this is trivia, but I think this is one of his most misunderstood songs. All you have to do is listen to the lyrics halfway carefully and realize he wrote this when he was having a bad time with drugs and alcohol. He is paying homage to the woman who loved him and put up with him anyway. It's a love song, but it's a tough love song. I don't know that "romantic" would describe it. All I know is that when I saw Clapton in concert, I thought it was weird to see all these couples slow dancing and looking deeply into each other's eyes as he sang this song. They must have been listening to exactly one line of each stanza. To really get a feel for it, watch a tape of Clapton singing that song shortly after he wrote it. He looks dead to the world and totally strung out . . . anything but romantic.
By the way, be sure to listen to the extended concert version on the 24 Nights album.

Wonderful Tonight
It's late in the evening; she's wondering what clothes to wear.
She puts on her make-up and brushes her long blonde hair.
And then she asks me, "Do I look all right?"
And I say, "Yes, you look wonderful tonight."
We go to a party and everyone turns to see
This beautiful lady that's walking around with me.
And then she asks me, "Do you feel all right?"
And I say, "Yes, I feel wonderful tonight."
I feel wonderful because I see
The love light in your eyes.
And the wonder of it all
Is that you just don't realize how much I love you.
It's time to go home now and I've got an aching head,
So I give her the car keys and she helps me to bed.
And then I tell her, as I turn out the light,
I say, "My darling, you were wonderful tonight.
Oh my darling, you were wonderful tonight."
