I recently got a metal eyelash curler after using a plastic one for some time. A metal one offers me better grip and curls my lashes more, but the problem is, it is hard to align the tool properly against my eye - I end up gripping the skin around my eyes too sometimes, and can't seem to be able to get hold of much eyelashes to curl, especially those on the inner sides of my eyes.
How can I make metal eye lash curlers work for me?

I am deathly afraid of clamping eyelash curlers.

After I apply my mascara, I turn my blowdryer on the coolest and lowest setting and use my finger to curl them while I dry them. This works really well for me. I don't wear contacts so I don't know how blowdrying your eyelashes effects them, but my eyes never water or get dried out. It does make my finger get messy, but I am sure you could use a eyelash brush, or a disposable applicator.

try curling earlier mascara. in case you dont prefer to try this them wait till the mascara is dry earlier curling. additionally sparkling the curler after each use because of the fact the gunk left from the mascara can grab the lashes and pull some out. yet another component is look on the black (or despite shade this is in yours) rubber rounded component in the curler. see if there is an indent in the middle. if there is or one is commencing off to style then replace it. that little indent can grab carry of the eyelash and rip it out if it gets caught to a techniques in. Its a soreness while they get pulled out. befell to me plenty however the cleansing and changing the rubber piece made a difference.
