What experiences and interests did Meriwether Lewis have as a child that prepared him for the expedition?

Lewis grew up mostly in Virginia but also spent some time in GA. He hunted frequently and psent a lot of time outdoors. His dad dies when he was young, and then his stepdad died when he was a teen I beleive. He then took over his family's plantation. He learned to be indepdendent and decisive. He later of course became a soldier and learned skills there. Clark grew up as more of an outdoorsman that Lewis.
