How did we get to this place morally, where you can create another human being, and be totally free from the consequences of having that person know your name, see your picture, or even being allowed to talk to you or gaze on you even one time?
Why do we accept without question that the government should assist in this escape from consequences by sealing records and denying access to the truth to people who have done nothing wrong except be born?
Why do we treat adult children, raised by others, as the enemy of the birth parents? Why do our laws deprive one group of their rights in order to protect others from possibly having to face the consequences of their past choices?

I am a birth mother who spent a lot of time and cash to make sure that my information was readily available to the daughter I gave up for adoption so that if she ever wanted to find me, she could. She did so, at age 17, through a free, online triad registry.
Adoptees have the right to know.
Addendum:
My birthdaughter and I have a close relationship now. She is 26, the mother of my 2 granddaughters (soon to be 3!). She calls me Ma, and her adoptive mother is Mom. The grandchildren call me Grammy, and their other grandmother is Gran. I am very close friends with my daughter's wonderful parents, as well, and love them so much for being such great family for her when I was unable to, and welcoming me into their family when our daughter found me.

Cases are fixed so do people really want to unseal the records? It's all about money. They also reap the harvest off divorce and unmarried parents....especially in juvenile cases ....rebellious children are ez prey. It may be questionable as to the child's part on these cases. Also children between 0-5 who cannot speak for themselves are of good use to them.
One could contact/write every single one of the politicians connected from county - federal and then be done with it. There are quite a few politicians out there that admit there is chaos in that system. Is the real issue finding one's parents? Have a voice but people shouldn't put all of their time into someone else's sin. They will all have to answer to God and rest assured justice will take place and nobody will be there to cover for them. The Bible warns about messing with the children.

Adoption is kinda' recognized as a more humane alternative to abortion. It's for parents who, for one reason or another, would be unable to support a child. Instead of killing the child, they give it to others who can't have one.
I know it sounds callous, but many children who are adopted were lucky to be born. And if sealed records will convice the parents to choose adoption over abortion, then I'm all for them (even if I'm pro-choice)

I'm not a parent, but I have watched many cases on Discovery and such. It's seems that women or parents who give up there childern are not ready to become parents, but are totally against abortion. Women or parents who are at a bad time in there life, and know you would be better off with someone else. Adult childern are not enemies of birth parents. It is to my knowledge that parents who don't want to be contacting is because they are afriad to let themselves love you. To let them feel the maturnal bond. I know you feel you were cheated. but so were they. I know a mother who has given up her rights to her child and wishes to see him everyday of her life. Wonders what he looks like, wonders if he is ok. But She can't ever see him because that was in the signing of the papers. That she was to never contact. Why did she give him up? Because she was poor, and she wanted a better life for him, it wasn't because she doesn't love him. Peace The World Is Crazy...Get involved yes, but not for yourself, for the purpose of makeing other people happy.
