The entire week between Christmas and New Years is a paid holiday at my company. We are under a big deadline though, so I may be working that week. Will get the extra time off the following week or 2 though.

To answer your question, I choose my hours, therefore, no I will not be working that day.
If a person who is not of the Christian faith, it won't matter.
If a person who is of the Christian faith, it does matter. However, I have heard from many Christian preachers that if Christ were alive today, he'd rather have us celebrate Easter, as opposed to Christmas (besides, the Christ was born in spring not December 25th).
December 25th, is an American "Holiday". Not, by definition, a "religous" holiday. Those who choose to work (or are forced to work) do so for various reasons. Generally, speaking (Christian or not), December 25th is a time to be with family. If one has to work on that day, I'm sure (or would at least hope) that the family would understand.

I'm a nanny, I probably have to do a part-day so everyone can get ready for the holiday.
