I was in the sates ( Florida ) 30 yrs ago one chap said he filled in every free mail shot that came in his door.He had a machine for making paper bricks and claimed in those days it cost him nothing to heat his house over the year. I suppose if you are on benefit then your time is paid for. The daily SENTONAL a local rag took all day to read it was well over 1"thick without any bullsh1t. He even collected the waste from his neighbours.

back to your question, all you need is a soaking tub and a press, I'm sure if you ask around someone can make a drill stand type press that can press the water out of the pulp. Think about it you might even be able to sell the presses and make a profit from it. You must know there's always money to be made from s...t if you know how to process it. With the cost of gas and electric you might just be into a winner. I'm a plumber otherwise I might have joined you. GOOD LUCK.

Hi >
A goodly notion.
Scrushed up old newspapers are fine for getting a fire going, but if you really shred them up, then leave it all in water overnight, then squash most of the water out & put them somewhere warm to totally dry out, you have fine re-cycled heating "logs"
They burn a treat, made into log shaped things.
All a bit of work, but a fine thing to do.
Energy conservation at it's finest.
Bob.

Phil c is right they were in the Betterware book. Or if you can get an old style potato chipper and make a plywood box with holes in the bottom this will do the same job far cheaper (ply for outside use)

you can make them, i made a simple frame out of wood, with holes in the base plate to drain water out, the top piece is loose and has a wooden lever about 750 mm long to squeeze the paper.

Soak the paper first, to loosen up the glue in it. about a week.
break it up into pulp
press it
dry it ( couple of weeks or more )

The harder you press, the longer the brick last.

It i was starting again i might make one from metal. or buy the ebay one above from the last link

Good luck

the worst thing is to burn paper and briquet's in the fireplace.
they corrode to chimney and create problems for you down the line.
just start the fire, then burn hot wood, like eucalyptus etc.

i have no clue where your going to get that from. But you should still look for it. Though I should tell you when you put those newspapers in there put them in one at a time and don't put allot in there at one time.
