Sometimes we injure ourselves and don't know it at the time. For instance, if you've been playing ball (no pun intended) and you slammed into a wall, you may just brush yourself off and feel nothing at the time, but the next day, you will feel it! The same applies to any part of the body. If you masturbated excessively, you may not even notice it at the time, but that could be one of those delayed-reaction things. A new pair of pants that are too tight, or tight underwear, or anything that you are not used to, could contribute to soreness. Sometimes when a guy is lying on his side, just the way he turns and shifts his weight could put undo weight in that area, and result in pain. A swelling would indicate a blow to the area (no pun intended, again) that you may have suffered and not even realized at the time. And even lifting a large object, if you braced it against your groin, could cause pain initially and later. If this is ongoing, and it bothers you more than it has, you should go to the doctor. You don't say your age, but ages 18-35 is the age group for testicular cancer. Not to scare you, but a visit to the doctor would rule that out. In the meantime, I'd stay away from tight briefs or boxer briefs so there's less pressure on your balls. If you take sports, make sure you wear the appropriate cup or jock strap. Good luck.

RE:
Why do my balls hurt sometimes?
once in a while, for no apparent reason my balls will hurt for a couple of days, i drain them regularly so it isn't that, and i don't get kicked there or anything like that, they are just sore.

It's just a part of life. Some times we have aches in our bodies from growing pains, arthritis, etc. It's just your body adjusting and readjusting as you age. You can be hundred percent healthy and fit for days and still have body aches for no apparent reason. Doctors act like they know it all which granite I do think they know a lot but they don't know everything and some times are wrong. You should be fine. If it hurts a lot then I recommend you to go to the doctor.

If your left balls hurt, do you get any pain in the right ones? If not, just grab one of those on the left and move it to the right.

When I was younger mine would sometimes hurt, we called it 'stone aches' and it is apparently common. I wouldn't be worried about it unless they hurt all the time.
